The Prospecting Map gives you a map-based way to work your patch in AI Prospecting. Search an address, suburb or postcode, draw a radius or your own boundary around it, and see every property your agency holds in that area. From there you can filter the results, call owners, log outcomes and send letters, emails or SMS without leaving the map.
This article covers how to open the map, search and draw an area, read and filter the results, and work the list.
❗ Please Note: The Prospecting Map is in beta and is available to selected agencies with AI Prospecting. It's available in Rex CRM on desktop only, not in Rex Pocket.
What Does the Prospecting Map Show?
Every property, owner and status on the map comes from your agency's own Rex database. That includes properties you've never prospected and properties with no owner recorded yet.
The map doesn't include outside property or market data, such as RP Data or portal listings. The map provider only supplies the map itself and the address search, so you can centre the map on any real address. If you search an area where your agency holds no records, the map will centre correctly but no properties will show.
How Do I Open the Prospecting Map?
- Go to AI Prospecting.
- Click Go to Prospecting Map.
The map opens on your office's location.
How Do I Search an Area?
- In the search card on the New Search tab, type an address, suburb, postcode or farm area. Suggestions are grouped under RECENT SEARCHES and FARM AREA.
- Select an address to centre the map on it.
- Choose how to mark out the area:
- Radius - click to drop a centre point, then set the distance.
- Draw - click point by point to draw your own boundary, for example to leave out the other side of a main road or a park.
- Drag the handles to adjust the area. Click Reset to start again, or Delete Drawn Area to remove it.
❗ Please Note: Selecting an address only moves the map. It doesn't search on its own. Draw a radius or boundary to see the properties in that area.
Radius and Draw only change the shape of the area. Both return every property your agency holds inside it.
How Do I Read the Results?
Properties in the area show as pins on the map and as rows in the list. The pins and the list always show the same properties.
- Pins group together when you're zoomed out. Click a pin to see the property's details.
- Rows show the address, market status, record type, property details, price and owner. Expand a row to see the owner's contact details and activity history.
- Click View in AI Prospecting to open the property in the prospecting list.
Each property shows a market status:
- Off market
- Listed
- Sold
- Has appraisal
- No owner on record
- AI prospect
What Are AI Prospects on the Map?
Properties that AI Prospecting has picked out as worth a call show an AI Prospect badge and are shown in purple. Only these properties include Why call now?, Talking Points and Check During Call, because they come from AI Prospecting's analysis. Other properties don't have these sections.
For more on how AI Prospecting chooses prospects, see - AI Prospecting - Introduction.
How Do I Filter the Results?
Use the filters in the search card:
- Owner Status - Any, Known owner, No owner or AI prospect.
- Property Status - narrow the results by market status.
Both filters start on Any. Clearing a filter brings back the full results for your area straight away, without searching again.
How Do I Call or Contact Owners From the Map?
Send a letter, email or SMS
- Tick the properties you want to contact.
- Choose Email, SMS or Letter.
- Rex's usual merge window opens, sending to each property's Owner. Finish the merge as normal.
❗ Please Note: For a Letter Merge, you can choose to include properties that don't have a contact attached, which is useful for letterbox drops. SMS Merge warns you if your SMS credits are low.
Log a call
- On a property row, click Log Call.
- Choose the call outcome and add any notes.
- Click Save, or Save & Add Reminder to set a follow-up.
The call is saved as a phone call note on the owner's contact record.
Snooze or dismiss a property
If now isn't the right time, snooze a property for 24 hours, or dismiss it from your list.
How Do I Save a Search?
- Click the bookmark icon.
- Give the search a name.
- Choose who can see it: just you, selected user groups or everyone.
- Save.
The search saves your area and filters. To open it again, go to the My Searches tab in the search card.
To save an area you work regularly as a named, coloured territory, save it as a farm area instead.
❓ FAQs
Why are no properties showing when I search an address?
Selecting an address only centres the map. Draw a radius or boundary to see properties. If you've drawn an area and nothing shows, your agency doesn't hold any property records there.
Does the map include RP Data or other market data?
No. The map only shows properties and owners already in your agency's Rex database.
Why don't all properties have Talking Points?
Talking Points, Why call now? and Check During Call are only available on properties marked as an AI Prospect.
Can I use the Prospecting Map in Rex Pocket?
Not yet. The Prospecting Map is only available in Rex CRM on desktop.
Why can't I see the Prospecting Map?
The map is in beta for selected agencies, and you need an AI Prospecting seat. Ask your Rex admin whether you have one. See - AI Prospecting - Admin Settings.
Will merges and logged calls work the same as elsewhere in Rex?
Yes. Merges use Rex's usual merge window and your existing privileges, and logged calls are saved to the contact as normal.
