Farm areas let you save the patches you work regularly on the Prospecting Map, so you can pick them from the search bar instead of drawing them each time. Agents can save their own farm areas, and principals can set up office farm areas and assign them to agents.
This article covers the two kinds of farm areas, how to create and manage office farm areas in Settings, and how agents use them on the map.
❗ Please Note: Farm areas are part of the Prospecting Map, which is in beta and available to selected agencies with AI Prospecting. For how to search and work an area on the map, see - AI Prospecting - Prospecting Map.
What Kinds of Farm Areas Are There?
- Personal farm areas - an agent draws an area on the Prospecting Map and saves it as their own farm area, with a name and colour.
- Office farm areas - a principal or admin draws an area in Settings, names it and assigns it to agents. This lets your agency decide who works which territory.
Farm areas are different from saved searches. A saved search keeps an area and its filters so you can reload them from My Searches. A farm area is a named territory you or your team work again and again.
How Do I Save My Own Farm Area?
- On the Prospecting Map, draw a radius or boundary around the area you want to keep.
- Save it as a farm area, then give it a name and choose a colour.
Your farm area then appears under FARM AREA in the map's search suggestions.
Who Can Manage Office Farm Areas?
🔒 Office farm areas are managed in Settings > AI Prospecting > Farm Areas. To open this screen, you need the Manage AI Prospecting Settings privilege, found in the Admin AI Prospecting Settings section of your privileges in Users & Security.
If you already had the Admin Advanced Settings privilege before this was released, you've been given Manage AI Prospecting Settings automatically.
❗ Please Note: This privilege only controls who can open and manage the AI Prospecting settings screen. It doesn't change which properties, contacts or areas anyone can see.
How Do I Create an Office Farm Area?
- Go to Settings > AI Prospecting > Farm Areas.
- Click +. The map opens in full screen, ready to draw.
- Draw the boundary of the farm area. You can add more than one boundary to the same farm area, for example two separate pockets of a suburb.
- In the side panel, fill in:
- Name - what agents will see in the search bar.
- Assign to - the agents who should work this area, or Everyone.
- Status - enabled or disabled.
- Colour - how the area shows on the map.
- Save.
❗ Please Note: Only agents who have an AI Prospecting seat appear in the Assign to list. If someone is missing, check their seat in - AI Prospecting - Admin Settings.
How Do I Stop Using a Farm Area Without Deleting It?
Open the farm area in Settings > AI Prospecting > Farm Areas and set its Status to disabled. It's taken out of use for agents, but the boundary and settings are kept, so you can turn it back on later.
How Do Agents Use Office Farm Areas?
- On the Prospecting Map, click into the search card.
- Your assigned areas show under FARM AREA in the suggestions.
- Select one and click Search to see every property your agency holds in that area.
To focus on part of your farm area, draw a smaller area inside it and save that search to My Searches.
