Once the Nexus integration is set up, you can bring properties into Rex straight from Nexus instead of typing the details in by hand. You can also link properties you already have in Rex to their Nexus record and open them in Nexus with one click.
This article covers how to open the import screen, import properties by street name or map area, check on your imports, and link, open or disconnect a property.
❗ Please Note: New Zealand accounts see Valocity Nexus on screen and Australian accounts see REIP Nexus. The steps are the same in both regions.
What Do I Need Before I Start?
- The Nexus integration must be activated for your office.
- 🔒 An admin must give you the Property Import permission on the Nexus connection.
- You need your own Nexus login.
For the setup steps, see Nexus (Valocity NZ / REIP AU) Integration: Setting Up the Integration.
How Do I Open the Nexus Import Screen?
- Click the Applications menu.
- Click your Nexus connection. This uses the name your admin gave the connection, for example Valocity Nexus or REIP Nexus.
- If prompted, sign in with your Nexus login.
The import screen opens. From here you can start a new import and see your current and past imports.
How Do I Import Properties by Street Name?
- Open the Nexus import screen.
- Under Run a record import, click Import.
- In the Import Type Configuration window, select Street name and enter the street you want to search.
- Work through the Select Properties and Select Records steps, ticking the properties you want to bring into Rex.
- On the Import Records step, choose how the imported details should be applied to properties already in Rex, then run the import.
While Rex searches, you will see "Please wait while we fetch data from Nexus". If nothing is found, you will see "No properties matching your search criteria". Check the spelling of the street and try again.
How Do I Import Properties by Map Area?
- Open the Nexus import screen.
- Under Run a record import, click Import.
- In the Import Type Configuration window, select Map area.
- Click Select Map Area and draw the area you want on the map.
- Work through the Select Properties, Select Records and Import Records steps as above, then run the import.
To redraw your area, click Change Selected Map Area.
In New Zealand, the map opens on your current location if your browser allows it, or on a view of the whole country. In Australia, you can choose a starting view for each state.
❗ Please Note: You can import up to 1,000 properties at a time. A whole suburb will usually be more than this, so draw smaller areas or import street by street.
What Happens to Properties Already in Rex?
When you run an import, you choose how Nexus details are applied to your Rex records. You can create properties that don't exist in Rex yet, and choose whether to update existing properties based on their listing status:
- Properties with no listing
- Properties with a past listing
- Properties with a current listing
When an existing property is updated, Rex only fills in fields that are currently empty. Anything your team has already entered is kept.
❗ Please Note: Rex matches properties by address. If an address is written differently in Rex and Nexus, the property may not match and could be created as a new record. Check the address is identical in both systems if a property doesn't match as expected.
How Do I Check on an Import?
Your imports are listed on the Nexus import screen:
- Currently active imports - imports still running. Click Abort import to stop one.
- Past completed imports - finished imports. Click view import results log to see what was imported, updated or skipped.
The results log explains any properties or details that were skipped, for example a property whose category isn't supported, or a wall or roof construction value that doesn't match an option in your account's lists.
How Do I Link a Property I Already Have?
- Open the property record in Rex.
- Find the Third Party Extensions panel on the right side of the page.
- Under Review Auto-selected Nexus Property, check that the Matched property address is correct.
- Click Connect.
If no match is found or the matched address is wrong, check that the address on the Rex property matches Nexus exactly.
How Do I Open or Disconnect a Linked Property?
On a linked property, the Third Party Extensions panel shows Current connection with two options:
- View record in Nexus - opens the property in Nexus, where you can access the CMAs, property reports and insights included in your subscription. You may be asked to sign in with your Nexus login.
- Disconnect record from Nexus - removes the link between the Rex property and its Nexus record.
❓ FAQs
Will importing again overwrite changes we've made in Rex?
No. When an existing property is updated, only empty fields are filled in.
Are owner details imported?
No. Owner and contact details are never imported from any property data provider due to privacy restrictions. Add the owner to the property as a related contact after importing.
Why don't our imported New Zealand properties have a photo?
Valocity does not supply property photos for New Zealand. All other details import as normal.
Can I send CMAs or appraisals from Nexus into Rex?
Not at this stage. Data flows one way, from Nexus into Rex. Use View record in Nexus to open your CMAs and reports in Nexus.
