Once a Third Party Integration is available to your agency, you manage it from the Admin > Integrations menu. This covers activating and managing the integration, setting permissions and restrictions, and managing credentials. All three are covered below.
For an overview of what integrations are and which ones are available, see Integrations: Introduction to Third Party Integrations.
Activating and Managing an Integration
Integrations can be viewed and activated in the Admin > Integrations menu within the Discover tab.
- A list of Available Third Party Integrations is shown, as well as showing which are currently active integrations.
- Clicking on the Integration then Activate will enable the integration, move it to the Active tab, and enable administrative functions to be performed via the Info > Edit buttons.
- Once an integration is activated, it becomes available on the appropriate sections of the Rex interface.
Permissions and Restrictions
Integrations may expose functionality beyond what is considered normal for regular Agent use. For example, the CoreLogic and Price Finder integrations provide mass import functions, allowing users to create a large number of Properties at once. While this is helpful for creating records initially, it also makes it possible for a user to create and overwrite Properties that already exist in Rex. That is why, by default, no users have access to these additional permissions. They must be specifically granted by the administrator managing the integration.
Once an integration has been activated, all the basic functionality it provides is accessible by anyone unless restrictions are applied. Without restrictions, an Agent can supply their own Third Party Integration credentials and access the features the integration provides.
Once an integration has been restricted, it can only be accessed by the users who have been granted access, regardless of whether the Agent has supplied third party credentials.
To restrict user access to an integration:
- Go to Admin > Integrations, Active tab
- If you have not yet enabled the integration you wish to set up, do so from the Discover tab
- Click Info > Edit on the integration
- At the top of the window, click Restrict Access
- A confirmation dialog will be displayed. Click Confirm to continue
After you have done this, no users will have access to the extension, so you will need to choose which users to allow:
- Hover over the Agent you want to give access
- Click the dropdown button
- Choose Allow Access (if they already have access and you want to remove it, choose Remove Access)
If you want to remove the restrictions entirely, click Remove Access Restrictions to revert to default access.
Managing Credentials
Credentials are set from two perspectives: that of the system administrator, or that of an agent. Administrators control access to integrations and can manage integration credentials across all users of their Rex instance. These are called 'Service Credentials'. Agents, on the other hand, can set the login credentials for their own accounts with the third party extension.
Please Note: Not all third party integrations require each user's credentials. If you are unsure, check with the Rex Support team.
Updating Credentials as an Administrator
Use the instructions below to set credentials on behalf of the Agents. You will need to know what the agent's credentials are.
- Go to Admin > Integrations
- If you have not yet enabled the integration you wish to set up, do so from here
- Click Info > Edit on the integration you want to set the credentials on
- Hover over the agent you want to update
- Click the dropdown button
- Choose Edit Credentials
- Enter their details
- Click Save
Updating Credentials as an Agent
Although an agent may set their individual integration credentials, whether they can actually access the integration functionality is still up to the administrator. If the agent wants to add their own details for any reason, they can do so from their My Profile (initials or photo) in the top right hand corner.
- Click My Settings
- On the left, click Integrations
- Hover over the integration they want to update
- Click the dropdown button
- Choose Edit Credentials
- Enter the account details for the service
- Click Save
Please Note: If you see an error explaining that the credentials failed for any reason, make sure they are correct by logging into the third party's website.
