Automatic Updates keep your buyers informed without you having to remember to send anything. Once a buyer has a Match Profile with an active Match Campaign, Rex automatically sends them updates about listings that match what they're looking for.
This article covers what Automatic Updates are, what types are sent, and how buyers can stop receiving them.
How Do Automatic Updates Work?
Once you've identified that a buyer is interested in particular listings and set up a Match Profile for them, they can be flagged for Automatic Updates.
If a contact's Match Profile has an active Match Campaign, they'll automatically receive updates about your new and current listings in Rex.
What Types of Automatic Updates Are Sent?
There are two types of Automatic Updates:
- New Listings - sent when a new listing matches the buyer's profile
- Price Changes - sent when the price changes on a listing that matches the buyer's profile
Updates are sent by email, SMS or both, depending on the buyer's campaign settings.
Please Note: We recommend not setting emails to send Immediate when you set up a Match Campaign. Buyers on Immediate receive one email every time you list, which can quickly become annoying and may lead them to unsubscribe. Daily or Weekly sends a single email with several listings instead.
How Can a Buyer Stop Receiving Automatic Updates?
Because match emails are sent as a campaign, buyers can unsubscribe from that Match Campaign, or from all mailing lists they're on, using the unsubscribe link in the email. This helps keep you in line with spam laws. For more on this, see - Spam Laws & Working Within Them.
Please Note: SMS unsubscribes need to be actioned by you. When a buyer replies STOP to an SMS alert, the reply goes to the Rex user who sent it, not to Rex, so Rex can't process it. To stop their SMS alerts, either:
- Open their Match Profile and change the SMS Settings on the campaign back to Never, or
- Block SMS in their contact's Communication Preferences. Any running SMS match campaign will be stopped overnight, and they won't receive SMS merges either.
Blocking Email in Communication Preferences works the same way for email match campaigns. If a contact is marked as Do Not Contact, all of their email and SMS match campaigns are stopped overnight. For more on this, see - Contacts: Communication Preferences and Do Not Contact.
❓ FAQs
A buyer replied STOP to an SMS alert but is still getting them. Why?
STOP replies go to your phone, not to Rex. Turn off the SMS campaign on their Match Profile, or block SMS in their Communication Preferences.
Does a buyer get an update when a listing's price changes?
Yes. If the listing matches their Match Profile and they have an active campaign, they'll receive a Price Change update.
Can a buyer unsubscribe from match emails themselves?
Yes. Match emails include an unsubscribe link, so buyers can unsubscribe from that campaign or from all mailing lists they're on.
