The Commission by Agent Allocation custom report can show what was invoiced, what was received, what has been paid to each agent's ledger and what is still outstanding. Use it to find commissions where the money has come in but the agent hasn't been paid, so you can fix it before the agent has to ask.
This article covers the four commission payment columns, how to switch them on, and how to build and share an unpaid commissions report.
❗ Please Note: These columns are off by default. The report looks the same as before until you switch them on in the Columns picker.
What Do I Need to Use This Report?
- Custom reporting on your Rex account. It's included in the Professional package.
- An account in Australia or New Zealand. This report isn't available in the UK.
- 🔒 The custom reporting privilege on your user, plus the privilege to view financial reports. To export the report, you also need the privilege to export commission worksheets. See - Custom Reporting Privileges.
What Do the Four Columns Show?
| Column | What it shows | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Amount invoiced | How much has been invoiced on the commission worksheet | The whole worksheet |
| Amount received | How much your agency has received against it | The whole worksheet |
| Paid to agent ledger | Payments recorded against this commission on the agent's ledger, including payments that are on hold or ready for payment | Each agent |
| Outstanding to agent | The agent's net payable commission, less what's been paid to their ledger | Each agent |
❗ Please Note: Amount invoiced and Amount received are for the whole worksheet, so they repeat on every agent's row when a commission is split. Don't add these columns up, or you'll count the same deal more than once. Paid to agent ledger and Outstanding to agent are per agent and can be totalled.
How Do I Switch the Columns On?
- Go to Reports > Commission. The report opens on Commission by Agent Allocation.
- Open the Columns picker.
- Search for and tick Amount invoiced, Amount received, Paid to agent ledger and Outstanding to agent.
The columns appear to the right of Amount to agent.
For more on columns, filters and grouping, see - Using Custom Reports.
How Do I Build an Unpaid Commissions Report?
Rex doesn't come with a ready-made unpaid commissions report, but you can build one in a couple of minutes and share it with your team:
- Switch on the four columns (see above).
- Open Filters, choose Outstanding to agent, and set it to greater than 0.
- Open the date filter, set Filter by date of to Contract accepted, and choose a Fixed period wide enough to cover all your open deals.
- Save the report and share it with your team.
Sort by Outstanding to agent to chase the largest amounts first.
❗ Please Note: A column's filter only appears once the column is switched on. If you can't find the Outstanding to agent filter, switch the column on first.
❗ Please Note: Don't skip step 3. The report filters by settlement date by default, so deals that haven't settled yet are left out. Filtering by contract accepted date instead keeps those deals on your list, including ones that haven't been invoiced. The date filter can't be switched off, so make sure your fixed period starts early enough to include your oldest open deal.

Which Payments Count as Paid?
- Payments on hold count as paid. The payment has been actioned, even if it isn't being released this pay run. The report shows commissions where no payment has been actioned at all.
- Only payments linked to the commission count. A payment added to the agent's ledger as a Settlement payout is linked to the commission. A payment added with Add transaction isn't linked, so it won't count here.
- Written-off balances are left out. Outstanding to agent is blank for allocations that have been written off, so they don't come back as something to chase.
❗ Please Note: Before paying anything the report shows as outstanding, check the agent's ledger to make sure it hasn't already been paid another way. For how to add a payout linked to the commission, see - Adding a Settlement Payout.
❓ FAQs
I can't see the new columns. Are they available?
Yes. They're off by default. Open the Columns picker on the Commission by Agent Allocation report and tick the four columns.
A commission shows as outstanding but we've paid the agent. Why?
The payment was probably added with Add transaction instead of as a Settlement payout, so it isn't linked to the commission. Check the agent's ledger before paying again.
Why is Outstanding to agent blank on some rows?
Those balances have been written off, so they're left out on purpose.
Can I add up the Amount invoiced column?
No. It's a figure for the whole worksheet, so it repeats for every agent on a split commission. Totalling it counts the deal more than once.
Can I use these columns for other checks?
Yes. For example, filter for deals that have been invoiced but not received, or that haven't been invoiced at all.
Isn't this already on the Commission by Sale report?
Commission by Sale shows invoiced and paid amounts per deal. This report shows them beside each agent's own allocation, along with whether the agent's ledger has been paid.
