The Email Health dashboard brings together your agency's email figures so you can see at a glance whether your emails are arriving, spot a rising bounce rate early and find out where the problems are coming from.
This article explains each part of the dashboard: the reporting period, the tiles, the charts, the team member breakdown, the top failure reasons and the export.
For an overview of Email Health and who can see it, see - Communication Centre: Introduction to Email Health.
How Do I Change the Reporting Period?
Use the period selector at the top right of the dashboard to choose:
- Last 7 days (the default)
- Last 30 days
The tiles, charts, lists and team member breakdown all update to match the period you choose. The only exception is the Marked invalid count, which always shows how many addresses are marked invalid right now.
The Last updated caption shows when the figures were last refreshed. They're updated once a night.
What Do the Tiles Show?
Six tiles across the top give you the headline figures for the period. Each tile also shows how the figure has changed since the previous period.
| Tile | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Emails sent | How many emails were sent, with the number delivered underneath |
| Bounce rate | The percentage of emails that bounced. It's highlighted if it goes above 5%. |
| Open rate | The percentage of delivered emails that were opened |
| Click rate | The percentage of delivered emails where a link was clicked |
| Blocked before send | Emails that weren't sent because the address had bounced before |
| Spam complaints | Emails that recipients marked as spam |
What Is a Healthy Bounce Rate?
Aim to keep your bounce rate under 2%. The Daily bounce rate chart shows a Healthy · under 2% line so you can see when you go over it.
A bounce rate above 5% is a warning sign. It means a noticeable share of your emails are going to addresses that don't work, which can affect how email providers treat everything your agency sends. Check the Needs attention lists to find and fix the addresses causing it. See - Communication Centre: Fixing Failing Email Addresses.
What Do the Charts Show?
- Daily bounce rate - your bounce rate for each day in the period, against the Healthy · under 2% line
- Send volume by day - how many emails were sent each day, split into delivered, bounced and blocked
Today's figures are marked · so far, because the day isn't over yet.
How Do I See Which Team Members' Emails Are Bouncing?
The Deliverability by team member table lists each team member with how many emails they sent, how many were delivered and their bounce rate. The highest bounce rates are at the top.
- Tick Flagged only to show only team members with a bounce rate above 5%.
- Use Search team member to find someone by name.
- Click a team member to see their bulk sends and individual emails for the period. You can filter their individual emails by status, for example Bounced, Blocked or Spam.
❗ Please Note: A team member is flagged as soon as their bounce rate goes above 5%, however few emails they've sent. For example, one bounce out of 18 emails is enough to flag them. Check how many emails they sent before acting on it.
What Are the Top Failure Reasons?
At the bottom of the dashboard, Top failure reasons shows the most common reasons your emails failed in the period, with a total count. Reasons include:
- The address doesn't exist
- The mailbox is full or unavailable
- The email was blocked for spam, reputation or content
- The email failed authentication checks
- A technical or DNS problem
- A spam complaint
If most failures are addresses that don't exist, cleaning up those addresses will have the biggest effect on your bounce rate.
How Do I Export the Dashboard?
Click Export at the top right of the dashboard. The figures download as a CSV file you can open in Excel.
❓ FAQs
Why don't the figures on the dashboard add up?
Some parts of the dashboard count different things. For example, the Needs attention: bulk sends list only includes bulk sends that had a problem, so it won't add up to the Emails sent tile, which counts every email. The failure reasons can also add up to more than the number of bounced emails. This is expected.
Why has our bounce rate changed?
Your bounce rate changes as you send more emails and fix bad addresses. If it has jumped, check the Needs attention lists and the Deliverability by team member table to see where the new bounces are coming from.
The Last updated date hasn't changed for a few days. What should I do?
The figures should refresh every night. If the date stops changing, contact Rex Support.
Can I see more than the last 30 days?
No. You can choose the last 7 or 30 days.
Can my open rate be over 100%?
No. Open and click rates are based on delivered emails, so they can't go above 100%.
