If your agency uses Rex CRM and Cirrus8 (C8) together, the Rex Cirrus8 Integration brings tenancy data from C8 directly into Rex CRM. Your property management team continues to manage leases in C8, and your sales and leasing team gets visibility on tenancy details in Rex without anyone having to duplicate data entry.
This article covers what the integration does, how to activate it, and how synced tenancies behave in Rex.
What the Integration Does
The Rex Cirrus8 Integration is a one-way sync from Cirrus8 into Rex CRM. Cirrus8 remains the source of truth for tenancy data.
What syncs from Cirrus8 to Rex:
- Tenancies - lease data including tenants, rent, outgoings and key dates
- Properties - matched to existing Rex properties or created as new property records
- Contacts - tenants are matched to existing contacts by name and email, or created as new contacts
- Vacant units - synced into Rex as properties even when no active lease exists
What doesn't sync:
The integration does not send Rex data back to Cirrus8. Cirrus8 makes no changes to Rex records other than what's listed above.
When syncs run:
The sync runs automatically once per day. New leases, lease changes, renewals and vacancies in Cirrus8 will appear in Rex on the next sync.
Where to Find the Integration & Set Up
To activate the integration, go to Admin > Integrations > Discover and find the Rex Cirrus8 card. Once active, the integration moves from the Discover section to your active integrations list.
Please Note: Activation requires Client ID and Client Secret credentials, which are provided by Cirrus8. If you don't have these, contact your Cirrus8 representative.
Setup Steps
- Navigate to Admin > Integrations > Discover > Rex Cirrus8
- Click the Rex Cirrus8 card to activate it - it moves from "Discover" to "Active"
- Enter your account details:
- Client ID number - provided by Cirrus8
- Client Secret - provided by Cirrus8
- Default Record Owner for Synced Tenancies - choose the user who will own all tenancy records synced from C8. If left blank, ownership defaults to System User. Recommended: set to the relevant property manager or team account
- Click Save
How Synced Tenancies Behave in Rex
Tenancies that came from Cirrus8 work slightly differently to tenancies created directly in Rex.
Read-only fields: Fields that originate from Cirrus8 are locked in Rex. You can view them but can't edit them. A banner on the tenancy record identifies it as a Cirrus8-synced record, and locked fields are visually greyed out. To change these fields, update them in Cirrus8 and the change will sync through on the next run.
Editable fields: Some fields are not sourced from Cirrus8 and remain editable in Rex, such as managing agency, property manager, bond and deposit.
Restricted actions: The following actions are disabled on Cirrus8-synced tenancies and must be performed in Cirrus8:
- Renew tenancy
- End tenancy
- Trash
- Reactivate
When the tenancy is ended, renewed or vacated in Cirrus8, the change will flow into Rex on the next sync and the corresponding action will happen automatically. For example, the tenancy will be archived in Rex when it's vacated in Cirrus8.
How Lease Changes Flow Through
| Action in Cirrus8 | Result in Rex |
|---|---|
| New lease created (Current) | New tenancy record created in Rex, or existing record updated |
| Lease extended or renewed (expiry date changed) | Existing tenancy record updated with the new expiry date |
| Lease vacated | Final data sync, then tenancy archived with reason 'ended' |
| Lease made inactive | Tenancy archived immediately with reason 'ended' |
| Property sold or management transferred | Old tenancy archived, property re-linked to the new Cirrus8 reference |
