To send SMS messages from Rex using an Australian mobile number, your number first needs to be verified. Verification takes about 30 seconds and is done from your own profile, and it keeps your SMS messages sending without interruption.
This article covers why verification is required, how to verify your number, and what to do if you reach the verification attempt limit.
Why You Need to Verify Your Number
Due to Australian telecommunications regulations, unverified Australian mobile numbers can no longer send SMS from Rex. Verifying your number confirms it belongs to you and meets the requirements set by the carriers.
Once your number is verified:
- Your SMS messages (campaigns, follow-ups, and one-off sends) keep sending without being blocked
- You meet the verified-number requirement without needing to leave Rex or contact anyone
- You only need to do this once per number
Please Note: Verification applies to Australian mobile numbers only. New Zealand numbers do not require verification and cannot be verified through this process.
How to Verify Your Mobile Number
- Go to My Profile > My Settings > My Details.
- Find the Mobile field and make sure your Australian mobile number is entered correctly, with no spaces or special characters.
- Click Verify.
- Enter the 4-digit code sent by SMS to that mobile number.
- Your number is now verified and ready to send SMS from Rex.
Please Note: A mobile number can only be verified against one user profile at a time. If a number has already been verified for another user, it cannot be verified again until it has been removed from the first profile. If you need a number moved from another profile, contact the Rex Support team.
If You Reach the Verification Limit
You can attempt verification up to 3 times. If you exceed this limit, you will see the following message:
"Attempts to verify your number has exceeded. Please reach out to our Support team for further assistance."
If this happens, you have two options:
- Wait 24 hours, then try verifying again, or
- Contact the Rex Support team and we will assist you
A common cause of failed attempts is entering the code incorrectly, so double-check the 4-digit code before submitting.
Please Note: You still need available Marketing Credits to send SMS from Rex. Verifying your number confirms you are allowed to send, but it does not add credits to your account.
