Preparing Your Listing for an AML Check
Overview
Before you can submit an AML check, your listing needs to have the right contacts linked to it. Rex uses these contacts to populate the AML submission form, so it's important to make sure they're set up correctly before you begin.
Taking a few minutes to prepare your listing will help avoid errors and ensure submissions go through smoothly.
Step 1 — Add Related Contacts to the Listing
AML checks are submitted for contacts linked to the listing. Rex will only show contacts that have been added as a listing owner, purchaser, or tenant.
To add related contacts:
- Open the listing in Rex CRM.
- Navigate to the Related Contacts section.
- Add the relevant contacts and assign them the correct role:
| Role | Description |
|---|---|
| Listing Owner | The seller of the property |
| Purchaser | The buyer of the property |
| Tenant | Applicable for rental listings |
⚠️ Note: If no contacts have been added, the AML pop-up will show an empty state and you will not be able to proceed with a submission.
Step 2 — Check Contact Name Requirements
Rex requires each contact to have both a first name and a last name to appear in the AML pop-up.
Contacts with only a single name — for example, a company name or a name entered in one field only — will be excluded from the AML contact list, even if they are linked to the listing.
Before submitting, make sure each contact has:
- ✅ A first name
- ✅ A last name
To update a contact's name, open their contact record in Rex and edit the name fields.
Step 3 — Verify Contact Details
In addition to their name, each contact must have the following details on their record for a successful AML submission:
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| First name | ✅ Yes | Must be entered as a separate field |
| Last name | ✅ Yes | Must be entered as a separate field |
| Email address | ✅ Yes | Used to identify the contact in FirstAML |
| Phone number | ✅ Yes | Required for verification |
If any of these details are missing, Rex will display an inline error when you attempt to submit. The submission will be blocked until all required fields are filled in.
💡 Tip: Check contact details before opening the AML pop-up to avoid interruptions during submission.
Understanding Contact Roles in AML
The role assigned to a contact in Rex determines how they are tagged in FirstAML:
| Rex Role | FirstAML Tag |
|---|---|
| Listing Owner | Seller |
| Purchaser | Buyer |
| Tenant | Buyer |
When you submit sellers and buyers in the same batch, Rex creates two separate cases in FirstAML — one for all sellers and one for all buyers.
⚠️ Important: Make sure contacts are assigned the correct role before submitting. The role cannot be changed after a case has been created in FirstAML.
What Happens Next
Once your listing has the right contacts linked and their details are complete, you're ready to submit an AML check.
