There are several different options for how your images are uploaded and displayed on the Portals.
The default setting in Rex is to have your images kept in the same format and width/length size that you upload them as. This can, however, cause issues in two places:
- Portals: Some Portals will display your images as is - but others, like realestate.com.au, display images at 800x600 pixels as a default (unless if you've enabled high res images - see below). If they're not that size, they will be skewed.
- Brochures: The brochures in Rex may not display correctly as the images do not fit the preset design templates.
Enable High Res images
This will allow you to upload full resolution images to Rex for use with anything that accesses the API (for example; Campaign Track, Siteloft websites).
REAXML, Domain, REIWA, REVXML can now be sent larger image formats by default. Trademe and Realestate.co.nz have always received larger image formats.
REAXML (realestate.com.au and others that accept the format), and Domain are now sent high res image formats if the account has high res image formats turned on.
Canvas Options
If you wish to keep your images ratio on Realestate.com.au without them skewing the image, you may want to turn on this setting.
This will add a 4:3 canvas that your image will sit on, forcing it to the correct ratio for Realestate.com.au.
Scaling
Here, you can choose how you'd like the images to sit in the 4:3 container. By default, it will be as fit images to container.
If you change to fill image container (crops edges), it will enlarge your image vertically to fit 4:3, then trim the left and right-hand sides to fit.
This is the recommended choice if you do not wish to have your images skewed on the sites and keep the brochures looking their best.
There is also an option to scale up small images that do not meet the sizing requirements.
