What is CardDav?
CardDAV is an open protocol designed to facilitate the transfer of Contact information between systems.
CardDAV is designed to act as a two-way protocol that facilitates updating, creation, deletion and downloads of Contact information between a client (e.g. a mobile phone) and a server (e.g. an application such as Google Contacts or Rex).
Limitations
There are two deliberate limitations that we have decided to include in our implementation of the protocol - this is due largely to the inconsistent nature of third party client implementations:
-
Our implementation is Read Only for a number of reasons. This means that the sync is one way - you can download Contacts to your CardDAV compatible application or device but you cannot update, delete or create new Contacts (see below).
-
You cannot sync more than 5000 Contacts. The Contacts that will be synced to your phone can be configured from your User Profile screen - you can apply any filter you choose - for example, 'Hot' Contacts that you own.
Contact Sync from Rex
Contact syncing can be set up from your profile by going to:
- Your Initials at the top right corner of Rex
- Select Profile
- Select Contact Sync from the left hand menu
